You need to make several choices and devise a detailed plan so that you can get maximum benefits and enjoyment from your in-ground pool.

Choosing the Material for the Swimming Pool

Nowadays, a wide variety of materials are used in the construction of swimming pools. Following are the most commonly used materials:

  • Fiberglass: This is a one-piece shell. Prepared in a factory, these shells feature a gel-like finish that resembles boat finish. This material can be quickly installed. If maintained regularly, fiberglass retains its finish for a considerably long time.
  • Vinyl: This material is the traditional choice for pool owners. Pool constructed with this material have reinforced walls along with a vinyl liner. While constructing in-ground pools using vinyl, you will have a wide variety of patterns, colors and designs to choose from. Your pool will thus have a personal touch.
  • Gunite: This is considered to be the best option among swimming pool materials because of its high quality. In-ground pools made using gunite comprise of reinforced concrete along with a plaster. You can have custom add-on features such as waterfalls, steps and beach entries.

Installing The Right Pool Filter

Pool Filters have a major role in swimming pool maintenance. Filters are responsible for keeping the pool water clean, clear and safe for swimming. These trap the dirt, debris and disease causing microbes in the water. The major type of filters using for swimming pool filters are sand filters, diatomaceous earth filters and cartridge filters. The former two filters use high-grade sand and diatomaceous earth for filtration purpose.

The latter one uses swimming pool filter cartridges. Each cartridge has numerous pleats which act as a filtering media for the impurities in pool water. Due to the convenience in installation, use and maintenance, cartridge filters are more often than the other two types of filters. The cartridges can easily be cleaned.

Old and damaged cartridges need to be replaced by new ones. Unicel pool filter cartridge replacement is preferred by many for this purpose.
